The Company
FOCUS GmbH, founded in 1990, develops, manufactures and distributes equipment in the field of electron spectroscopy and
surface analytics. Some of our products are exclusivly distributed by OMICRON Vakuumphysik GmbH (Taunusstein). FOCUS GmbH started with UHV- Evaporators
for in-situ preparation of ultrathin films in the nanoscale. Nowadays we offer the product family EFM3, EFM4 and EFM3T
for different applications. The product range was expanded with the VUV- lamp HIS13 and electron excitation sources (electron gun EKF50/EKF250 and fine-focus RHEED Gun
). The 20 keV- RHEED- gun is part of the SPA- RHEED System for spot profile analysis. In 1992 we started with electron energy analysers
for the standard techniques UPS, XPS, AES, ISS and ARUPS (CSA200/300, SHA50). With the FOCUS- SPLEED detector, we offer the only commercially available spin-detector for
spin-resolved spectroscopy.
One of the most important developments of the last years was the design of a bolt on photoemission electron microscope
with an (optionally) integrated sample stage (FOCUS IS- PEEM). It has been already used in a wide field of applications ranging from laterally resolved chemical analysis by micro- XANES and
micro- ESCA (with energy analyser) to magnetic domain imaging using synchrotron radiation. A recent highlight in this field is the patented
Double Reflection Electron Emission Microscope (DREEM), which combines the PEEM and LEEM imaging with the option, to get structural information by laterally resolved LEED (µ-LEED).
New developments are the combination of pulsed laser sources with multilayer optics (monochromatization/ focusing) to set up a laboratory based system for chemical analysis with high resolution.
