One of our first results were taken on a Au(111) single crystal at RT. The band structure and the first Brillouin zone of the gold are clearly visible close to the Fermi edge #NanoESCA #momentum #microscope .

Guess what's in these pictures! Few people know that the most complex NanoESCA surface microscope system in the world is in use at our ELI-ALPS facility. The instrument enables scientists to study the structure of materials and map the electron band structure of various molecules at unprecedented resolution. The pictures show the images of a gold single-crystal captured by our colleagues. In the future, we aim to make the system accessible to a growing community of researchers and industrial users in nanoscale experiments.
